Working Man's Dreams

28/5/2010

I dreamt of a man who had all money could buy
     A beautiful wife
     Kids without strife
     An enviable life
But alone in the dark his soul out did cry

It cried out for those things beyond money alone
     It cried out for dreams
     It cried for divine teams
Is this world all that it seems?
Toward tears such as these are so many men prone

What is to be done when there are responsibilities to be had
     Cant just up and quit
     Nor from home split
With dreams of a better fit
The hardest to leave is the progeny of one's lass and lad

And so many find themselves in dilemma's like this
     Soul searching is easy
     With no home nor family
     No responsibilty
Hence the tear bestween desire and past choice which leads to crisis

Providing for one's family in the things they want
     Tis no easy task
     For help some must ask
Or they put on a false mask
And turn their backs on dreams that for their life shall always taunt

These dreams come back in force that is full
     Given some time
The roots grow deep, and fine
To break later is no crime
Even if for 30 years, one must take care of business in lull

So for those who have dreams of something someday
     Have patience
Listen to your voice of conscience
     It provides luminessence
This path will in the end pay

We all get what we want
If our posture is staunt
Our small successes we dont flaunt

Just keep your head down
Work and toil without reknown
Ley your work stack high from the ground

If expectations are low
And your final success you know
The world will read what you sow

    I love poetry.

It can be whimsical or epic, unbearably long or just two memorable lines, mature and dark or light and childish.
