A Death in the Family

26/10/2010

Somewhere out there a grandmother passes
Earth to earth and ashes to ashes
Their passing is life but also a sadness
Long life lost, loved ones surround
Softly falling tears the only audible sound
Heads bowed as the salt hits the ground
Silver hair, wrinkled skin, age percieved
So much love given and thusly recieved
But now, she is just waiting to be relieved

At this moment a grandfather falls
"My heart, it is stopping" is what he calls
Born things must die, thus are the laws
Survived by children, grandchildren, wife
The family he worked to build his whole life
Now that hard work has claimed its price
Peacefully past, small gathering of friends
Come to see his body off to the end
The rest of the family will surely fend

Right now a mother does die
Her family upset, it helps to cry
There is a reason if wondering why
Cancer her bane, it ate her away
Her own cells her life did betray
On this earth, she could no longer stay
Mourning family support one another
The children so sad at the loss of their mother
Their lives go on and hopefully recover

A father gives in, he could not hand on
His body begins to play a new song
Moving on out unto heaven's lawn
Stroke caught him on a bright Sunday morn
With his whole family around safe and warm
This situation for them was the norm
His work respected, a legacy left
From his future, this feels like a theft
Leaving a family at home and bereft

A song is destroyed through reckless pursuit
Lost in testosterone in the height of his youth
No chance of reaching an age to seek truth
Accident stole his young life away
At such a fast speed that boy did play
Now without moving his body doth lay
Great pain and tears his parents express
He was their only, the part that was best
They must now accept he is laid down to rest

A young girl tragically lost is the worst
She was like pure sunshine, now in a hearse
The youngest should not the die in the first
Like a summer flower, soft, bright, and sweet
Her life only innocence, no chance for deciept
The loss of such purity feels like defeat
The animals wail with the birds in the sky
The whole planet mourns and wonders why
This sweet little girl was chosen to die

No reason or rhyme can help ease the pain
Of a loss in the family, naught else is the same
Either young or old, death doth lay a claim
The closer the loss the greater the pain

Death is inseperable from living
As long as there's breathe, we keep on giving
We must carry on, we are strong beings
Letting go is so hard, none want bereaving

So sad
   Not bad
Death for all must be had

The Golden Wolf Hunter

The golden man saved the meat
   From turning into wolve's feast

They would soon have knashed their teeth
    Exposing bone that's born underneath

Just then an arrow came flying out
"Direct hit" the man silently shouts

Although the prey was already in mouth
They struggled to return it to house

You see this prey was a young human boy
The wolves went after him, pack tactics employ

Predator prey not always what it seems
Different requirements come with different means

The arrow or bite can bring a death grin
For both just released loud, painful screams

This is the end of the gold wolf hunter's tale
Tell it again, the meaning won't stail
        All around, people may hail
At the glory of the golden wolf hunter's tale

On Fear

Hairy and scary but funnier than hell
Don't go a ringin' that frightening bell

Monsters and maidens and scientists too
Cheap and sick movies hold us like glue

How can you help but love the corn syrup
In buckets of red, that's how they pour it

Lucky we are to have tales such as these
Regardless of quality or factor that's cheese

A moment of pleasure mixed with some fear
The are the moments that horror holds dear

Few and far is how often they come
There is a small fad and then they are done

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Don't scare me like that!
You and your mask make me jump like a cat!

A heart rate increase of at least two fold
I never thought you would dare be so bold

Appreciate I can a good hearty scare
There's no possible way one can prepare

That's what makes innocent scares so bloody great
There is no real danger, just fear we create

This is not refering to real life times
Not about evil with no reason or rhyme

When strangers act with ill intent
Then you may know what true fear is meant

If your close family comes under threat
There is no fear like that, on this you can bet

If there is some shame that one could expose
I hope fear like that you never must know

These real worries need not keep one afraid
For fearing daily gives is to much power paid

To conquer our fears defines a human
We all get chances in our short life span

Lets keep fear and fun mixed up together
Perhaps this can make, life a little better

Autumn Saturday

Get up late,
   Perhaps a run
   In the chilly autumn sun
These days are rare and precious

Sunlight lines,
   Cascading in
   Crisp, clear and coolly warm
Allow the colors to infect us

Energy gathers
   Come to life
Thanks be given for the blood that courses
No sense in being trepidacious

Run to what?
   Run from who?
Move in sync with body cue
I don’t want to seem garrulous

All in all, easy to say
   Tis a lovely autumn Saturday.

A California Dream

Out on the coast where dreams are made
Where memories last and people fade
The ocean calls out with its ever present waves
Is there a chance this can be saved?

The beach it does serve the surfer's delight
Stretching for miles, no end in sight
Not easy to track the wrong and the right
Especially once doth come on the night

But, like all cities, tis just filled with people
With no desire to bring out true evil
Just to be good and most familial
Rising and living with a happy zeal

Sunshine blesses through most of the seasons
For past wrongs, of course there were reasons
All deserve a second lease on
In the past, none can stay frozen

So move along in the California sun
Dream a dream and smoke some fun

But remember,
Tis but a dream

Sleeping Dragon

The dragon awakens
    The great lizard speaks

Fear grips a trembling heart as massive wings take flight

Heat engaged
Green flames to yellows and orange
All ends up gray

The ash floats and coats
A thin layer settles
The sun is dark
A child crying for mother is heard in the distance

The beast has ears
The child's sobs cease in a chilling instant

Woe is the name of the dragon
Humans are nothing more than food and pain

None can sleep an eternity

The dragon awakens with a shrill roar piercing the day

Remembering glory past when kin ruled the sky

Only fire and pain now
Dragon days numbered
Hunted and aging
Wicked and fleeing
Tis no where to run nor fly

Facing fate
    The beast blazes its rememberance

Should not we forget
Lest the beast should awaken o

    I love poetry.

It can be whimsical or epic, unbearably long or just two memorable lines, mature and dark or light and childish.
