Listen well and gather round
For a tale of love both lost and found Its start comes at the age of ten In a land hurt by wars of men Both lad and lass has lost their parents Their homes and lives charred ashes in cement In this bleak and painful time Each other's help they did find Charlie had a small guitar To play with lady Erica Together they did form an act To entertain as soldiers pas The passing men did tip them well Both their purse and bellies swelled This went on for 6 odd years The war did pass as did their fears Then a man did come along Who offered her a showbiz song Erica and Charlie said goodbye Upon their parting both did cry Upon the stage she found success Charlie embraced the wilderness He knew as soon as she had gone How strong it was their shared bond He began to write songs of love There count not be any oth' These songs did travel far and wide Until they reached Erica's bedside There after 10 long years She remembered Charlie and burst in tears Then one evening at a party Only creatives were invited She saw Charlie through a crowd His eyes looked up and cleared a cloud There did stand his one true love For so long he had been dreaming of They drifted together in a trance And shared a first and sublime dance From that time on they were together Tis love that's all that lasts forever
